Founder's Bio
Liya Blackwood Carter, the Founder of Natieva Consulting, is a finance strategist, and a business coach with more than 25 years of experience in corporate finance, accounting, and business leadership. She holds a Master of Science degree in Finance and has spent her career helping organizations build strong financial foundations while navigating growth, complexity, and transformation.Born and raised in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Liya moved to the United States in 2000, building her professional career for over two decades. Her personal journey of starting a new life in a different country shaped many of the values that guide her work today — resilience, gratitude, transparency, and a deep sense of purpose.
Throughout her career, Liya has worked with organizations across a wide range of industries including healthcare, arts and education, construction, SaaS startups, and technology and video game companies. She has supported both for-profit businesses and mission-driven nonprofit organizations with annual budgets ranging from $1 million to $100+ million. Her diverse experience allows her to quickly understand the financial, operational, and leadership challenges organizations face at different stages of growth.
Liya has guided organizations through both rapid expansion and difficult economic transitions. She has helped companies scale during aggressive growth phases — particularly in healthcare — while also supporting organizations navigating economic uncertainty, including the 2008–2010 recession and the operational disruptions during the 2020–2021 pandemic. Her work is grounded in financial discipline, clear decision-making, and transparent leadership.Known for her thoughtful and values-driven leadership style, Liya believes that strong financial strategy is ultimately about enabling people and organizations to fulfill their purpose. She approaches her work with conviction, transparency, and deep respect for the mission and people behind every organization she serves. In addition to her financial leadership career, Liya is deeply committed to mentorship and leadership development. She is a member of Chief, a nationwide community of senior women executives dedicated to supporting women in leadership. Recently, Liya expanded her professional path to include executive and transformational coaching. After completing extensive training, she earned certifications as a Life and Success Coach, Business Coach, and NLP Practitioner. This work allows her to integrate financial strategy with leadership development, mindset work, and drive meaningful and long lasting transformation. Today, Liya works with executives, entrepreneurs, and organizations seeking both strategic financial guidance and leadership coaching. Her approach combines analytical rigor with values-based leadership — helping clients grow strong organizations while creating meaningful impact in the communities they serve.
